What do people say about art with Isabel?

Great class with an excellent tutor! Isabel is a very positive and inspirational tutor. Making a regular commitment to a course of classes has given me the motivation I lacked to get back to painting on a regular basis again. All materials provided is such an excellent bonus too! Val P

Isabel’s acrylic painting classes are always very enjoyable. They are in a relaxed learning environment which gives her students confidence and inspiration. EW

We enjoy enthusiastic encouragement, constructive advice, and warm friendly company. Sylvia F

Isabel runs her classes in a very supportive and positive manner. She knows her craft and can convey her knowledge clearly in a class environment. The classes have a structure and a logical progression from practising a particular element of painting to putting it into practice in a piece. She makes sure there is time for individual attention and ensures the class remains small enough to allow this. I enjoy that I can choose what I paint and we don’t all end up with copies of the same thing. Just recently I have learnt so much about colour mixing and light and shade which is showing in my work. Isabel concentrates on the positive in any piece and she will find a way to point out the things she likes in it and can guide me to improve it even when I am despairing about it! I can highly recommend her classes. ES

Isabel is a patient and encouraging teacher. I started as a beginner and she given me the confidence to paint in my own way, building on my strengths and interests. Mrs L

First started painting in my seventies and have learned a lot of techniques from Isabel's classes which have been great fun and occasionally managed to paint something recognisable. JC

I enjoy Isabel’s art classes very much & I have learned a lot about painting with acrylics: colour mixing, picture composition, textures & so much more. The classes start with various skill practices which help enormously with improving your painting techniques. I highly recommend trying the classes. Gill

Isabel has delivered numerous family and school art workshops for SEARCH. They are engaging, enjoyable and always pitched at the right level for the participants. Visitors develop new skills while having fun whether it be experimenting with watercolour paint, mark making or printing. Wendy Redman, Gosport Venue Manager (Learning Lead); Hampshire Cultural Trust

Isabel was as always professional, reliable and enjoyable to work with. She has a great ability to tailor her workshops to the audience, be they nervous children or adults with existing skill and knowledge. The workshops kept both children and adults engaged and unearthed some hidden talents. Staff and participants came away with a better understanding of Elizabeth Blackadder’s work and a sense of achievement about what they had achieved thanks to Isabel’s skill. Jenny Stevens, Venue Manager Basingstoke (Willis Museum & Sainsbury Gallery) and Culture Hubs Curatorial Lead; Hampshire Cultural Trust

Please contact me via email or get in touch if you have any queries about future classes. Whether I am working with adults or children, I work in a person-centred way so that all participants get the most possible from the session. I use my experience to come at things from different perspectives, so that together we find an approach that allows everyone to enjoy their art and to improve their skills. See Art for All for more information.

Booking is required for all classes and workshops. Please use the booking form for adults. Acrylics can be difficult to remove from clothes so please wear old clothes you don’t mind getting paint on, and/or an apron.
